About M'Ocean

M'Ocean Through a FenceIt all started way back growing up in Northern, New Jersey. I was about five years old. I sat in my house with a pair of drum sticks and began banging hard on my brother’s drum set with no discernible rhythm. Practicing day in and day out I started to really understand the foundations of grooves, beats and rhythm. I was also very much fascinated with synthesizers and electronics. I use to love discovering and manipulating brand new sounds that came out of synthesizers. At a young age, I was influenced greatly by the early sounds of electronic bands such as; Depeche Mode, Yaz, New Order, The Cars, Human League and Kraftwerk. I always knew that one day I would be creating electronic music…

As I entered High School, I remained mainly a drummer, but still continued to enjoy the ever-growing world of Electronic music. In the early 90's I was heavily influenced by Industrial bands like; Nine Inch Nails, Front 242, Frontline Assembly and Ministry. At the same time, the self-taught drummer that I am played in some Rock/Metal bands and really pushed my drumming skills all the way. I often found myself not connecting with people who were on my level of thinking when it came to music and I knew that one day I would be going solo and doing things my way.

Pushing forward into the future my hard work of studying music paid off and soon I was composing the background music for commercials in New York City and was even appointed the lofty position of working on the soundtrack for the movie “Desecration”; a movie headed by my brother, Dante. I also started to deejay pretty heavily, spinning Progressive House, Tech House and Trance at misc. parties, clubs and various events. But, all of this success didn’t stop me from continuing my study of the Arts. I went back to school and took up Graphic Design. Now, I am an Art Director in an Healthcare Marketing Advertising Agency and this creative outlet has given me other hobbies besides music to express myself with such as; Photography.

My plans for the future may not be set in stone, but I know music will always be my main creative joy in life. I will always make music just for the pure ecstasy it brings me and other people who enjoy my sound.

This is only the beginning...
